Our Commitment
Wihebrink's Dog Works is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to people of all abilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to information about our services, regardless of how they navigate the web. Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards wherever practical.
Accessibility is not a one-time effort. We review our site on an ongoing basis and work to address issues as they are identified.
What We Have Done
We have taken the following steps to make this Site more accessible:
- Skip-to-content link — A keyboard-accessible link appears at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass navigation and jump directly to the main content.
- Semantic HTML structure — Pages use proper HTML5 landmarks (header, main, nav, section, footer) so screen readers can orient users to the page structure.
- ARIA labels — Interactive elements, including the mobile navigation menu and cookie consent dialog, include descriptive ARIA attributes so assistive technologies can identify their purpose.
- Image alt text — All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers skip them.
- Form labels — Every field in our contact form has a visible, properly associated label. Required fields are identified both visually and programmatically.
- Keyboard navigation — The site can be navigated entirely by keyboard. Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements.
- Color contrast — Text and background colors are selected to meet WCAG minimum contrast ratios, supporting users with low vision.
- Responsive design — The site adapts to any screen size and supports browser text size adjustments without breaking the layout.
- No auto-playing media — We do not use auto-playing audio or video that could interfere with screen reader output.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations may exist. Third-party content or tools embedded in this Site, such as map or scheduling widgets added in the future, may not meet all accessibility standards. We do not control the accessibility of third-party services.
If you encounter a specific barrier on our site, please let us know. We take all feedback seriously and will work to address issues as quickly as possible.
